Molly Hatchet, named after a prostitute of the 17th century who lived in the Southern states of the USA and was known for treating her suitors not particularly leniently, inspired the founding of the Band MOLLY HATCHET in 1975, that in turn lent itself to Southern rock. The self-titled debut album "Molly Hatchet" quickly achieved platinum status. MOLLY HATCHET has since been known for their loud Southern sound, which amongst others brought their second album "Flirtin' With Disaster" an even bigger success than their debut with over two million sales. MOLLY HATCHET celebrated their 40-year anniversary with a world tour and the release of the CD and triple-vinyl-live album "Battleground". Recorded in Germany and Switzerland under the label SPV/Steamhammer and decorated with cover art of the famous artist Paul Raymond Gregory (Dio, Uriah Heep, Saxon), "Battleground" thrilled their loyal fans, national and international press alike. With more than 13 studio albums, several live versions, and other compilations, they have been on stages all around the world for almost 50 years now, and also at this year's BANG YOUR HEAD!!! festival 2023.
